About CAIIPS:
With the rapid development of global artificial intelligence industry and Artificial intelligence technology continues to make breakthroughs and upgrades. The IP offices in the world are soliciting views on the impact of artificial intelligence on IP laws.
In July 2015, the State Council of China issued the Guiding Opinions on Actively Promoting the "Internet Plus" Action Plan, putting AI into one of the key priority for the first time. And in July 2017 the State Council issued the New Generation of Artificial Intelligence Development Plan which proposed to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights in the field of AI, improve the interactive mechanism of technological innovation, patent protection and standardization, also promote transformation of scientific and technological achievements and the utilization and diffusion of new AI technology through the establishment of AI patent pool. Early this year, On 31 December, 2019 a new amendment to the Guidelines for Examination of the Chinese National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) was announced. The new guidelines, which come into effect on February 1st, cover inventions with features that include an algorithm or business rules/methods.
The 2nd annual China AI Intellectual Property Summit will be held in Shanghai with the theme of "Quality enhancement and risk control - Promoting the value of AI IP rights". CAIIPS will mainly address the IP issues related to AI inventions and offering participants practical and strategic insights about how best to protect IP rights under the current IP law including subject matter eligibility, data protection, copyright protection, OSS, trade secret and discuss the challenges of future Intellectual Property / legal issues for Artificial Intelligence in major countries around the world.
